Did you know that we eat (first) with our eyes?

YES!! The eating process starts with eye appeal.

I remember so well my grandfather teasing me because my eyes were always bigger than my stomach. As a card-carrying member of the "Clean Plate Club", I would naturally prove him wrong by stuffing myself at those big family gatherings and holiday meals. Who could resist all those colorful, tempting foods? As it turns out, few of us can. The average American will eat more than 4500 calories on Thanksgiving Day alone. We are seduced by buffet tables and pastry carts. And we are seduced by dinner plates that are 51% bigger than they were in the 1900's. There is no question that the mere look of certain foods makes us salivate. Indeed, food advertising is based on that fact. The tremendous eye-appeal of many foods subtly encourages us to overload our plates....and overload our bodies in the process. And many of us, especially members of the "Clean Plate Club", have been trained to confuse "clean plate" with "full". In truth, "full" happened long before the plate was clean. So, what to do??? How do we avoid this trap? A group of Swedish researchers found that taking away the visual clues of foods enabled people to focus solely on taste, smell and texture. In doing this, subjects in the experiment ate far less than when they could see the food. They ate until they were satisfied and then stopped. They actually left food on the plate. How did this happen? They BLINDFOLDED them!OK, Liz, does this mean that the next big thing will be "The Blindfold Diet"?RELAX! You can save the blindfold for more entertaining pursuits.I DO have a GREAT resource to give those greedy eyes a reality check on the size of your stomach. To allow you to truly ENJOY your meal without getting to that "stuffed" place. My friends Walt and Sheila Dietrich have designed the most beautiful china, stemware and serving pieces with right-sized portions "built-in" to the design. They take the guesswork and the hassle out of serving. They take the "Temptation Factor" away. They "right-size" your eyes! And they enhance the eye appeal. This exquisite line of dinnerware is called Livliga. Here's how it works.livliga dinnerwareHere's what people say about them:These plates have completely changed the way I consume and enjoy food! I have generally known "what to eat" but not necessarily "how much to eat". I consistently left the table feeling too full knowing that I consumed too much. After using these plates for the past few months, I now eat the right portion sizes and leave the table feeling satisfied and better about myself. The plates, bowls, and cups are also beautifully designed; I use them every day and for dinner parties and my guests rave about them.

The best part is that this amazing and elegant china is available online! Order some QUICK for the Holidays! Click Here!
